What is it about?

In this publication, we explore the use of Galvele's critical acidification model to evaluate the pitting and crevice corrosion resistance of duplex and super duplex stainless steels.

Why is it important?

Even though Galvele's critical acidification model has changed our understanding of the localized corrosion phenomenon, it has not been broadly applied to estimate or anticipate the performance of complex engineering alloys. Our work is a first attempt to correlate the critical potential obtained by the critical acidification model with laboratory and long-term exposure testing.
